My child.
It is what a parent says. It is what a whole street says when a child is lost. We took the word because every child we report on, stand beside and teach belongs to someone, and that someone is still waiting for them.

What we do

waladi is a news agency, an organisation and a school, all in one.

We report

We report what war does to children, country by country, with the figures others leave out: the displaced, the hurt and the unseen.

We raise awareness

We tell the stories behind those figures, including the girls who are told what they may not do, and we put them in front of people who can no longer say they did not know.

We educate

We teach children remotely ourselves, and we keep teaching until each one understands a subject well enough to teach it to the child next to them.

Brand identity

A child looking straight at you

Look at the middle of our name. The letters a, l and a form a face: two eyes set inside the a, and the l standing between them. It does not smile and it does not cry. It looks at you directly, the way a child does when they are waiting for an answer.

We drew it that way on purpose. The children we work with do not need pity, and they are not mascots. They need to be seen clearly and with dignity, and the mark asks the same of anyone who reads it.

What we are

Three organisations in one, because a child needs all three

01

A news agency

We report what is happening to children in conflict, country by country, with the figures that usually go unpublished: the displaced, the hurt and the unseen.

02

An organisation

We do not ask for donations. We ask for attention. Our work is carried by volunteers and by a public that refuses to look away.

03

A school

We teach children remotely ourselves, and keep teaching until each one understands a subject well enough to teach it to another child.
